The Honor of My Life - Joe

Dear Mr. Neal,

Thank you for writing to me.  It has been the honor of my life to serve as your President.  I have been blessed with the love and support of the American people, and I am grateful to know that I earned yours.  

We have come so far since my inauguration.  Today, we have the strongest economy in the world.  We have restored our democratic alliances, and the American people are safer because of it.  We are rebuilding our Nation, bringing manufacturing back, and leading the world in science and innovation.  More Americans have health care today than ever before.  And I was proud to sign the most significant climate law in history.  America remains the most powerful idea:  that we are all created equal and deserve to be treated equally throughout our lives.  That idea is stronger than any one of us, and while we’ve never fully lived up to it, we’ve never walked away from it either.  I know that we will not walk away from it now.

I believe our country is at an inflection point—one of those rare moments in history when the decisions we make now will determine the fate of our Nation and the world for decades to come.  We just have to remember who we are:  We’re the United States of America, and there is nothing beyond our capacity when we do it together.  Thank you, and God bless you.

Coal in 2016

Dear Madam Vice President,

A point that should be made in regards to the 2016 election is that Trump told the mining community that they will have jobs and Clinton told the world that coal mining companies needed to close. It gave a large part of the voting public the idea that Trump meant jobs and Clinton meant unemployment.

Trump lied but Clinton’s point was just as wrong. Companies need to evolve to live in the future not die. A company that made typewriters can make other things. Royal was a big typewriter company back in the day, and it was founded in 1904 but it still makes things today even as it was founded to make typewriters.

The point is that we need a plan for Coal Country America. We need a plan for hope in the small towns who view Donald Trump as the man who will save their way of life. The economic engine of the coal mine is at its end and we need to find a new engine to fuel small town America.

Much as the coal furnaces that once powered our turbines have given way to solar panels so must the mines give way to a new form of power. What that may be I couldn’t say. I would encourage a green future, but I don’t know what would work in this situation.

What I do know is that innovation often brings humanity into the cities and away from the small towns which breeds poverty and homelessness. The loss of the steam engine in trains left many a small rail stop as a ghost town.

The important thing is that small town America needs to know that you’re on their side. The people need to know that you are here to make the transition away from coal as painless and beneficial as possible.

Make Hate Un-American

Dear Madam Vice President,

If there is one contribution I would like to make to your campaign and the American zeitgeist it is the slogan “make hate un-American”. Hatred has been on the rise since 2016. Hatred in America has become a fire fueled by ignorance and fanned by poverty burning away at the integrity of this nation.

I’m a Jew, under Trump they were vandalizing our temples and we lived in fear. I had a lawyer who volunteered as an armed guard at a Jewish temple before he died. Some temples even canceled there services if Trump rallies where happening nearby.

Now things have only gotten worse for my people. Angry mobs now hunt Jews in America. Violence against any group should be seen as un-American, but this world of hate is known to be the product of ignorance. Humanity hates because hate is part of our instincts. It was normal in prehistoric times to hate the other tribe, but now we need to move past that.

Now we should be more civilized and embrace the diversity that makes America so wonderful a nation. I like living in a world where I can have Mexican food for breakfast, Greek for lunch, and Italian for dinner.

Let’s make hate un-American. Let’s make hate the idea of the enemies of democracy and let’s remind this nation that we are all here to lead a better life and lead a free world.

Modern Day Fairy Tale

Hello there, (YouTube Channel),

I just read your craigslist ad for a writer and watched some of your Fairy Tale Friday with the segment about Willy Wonka so far being my number one. I guess it’s the one I can relate to the best being a large man who has had to keep his hands off the sweets. I think cocaine would make me thin, but it didn’t work for Chris Farley did it?

Many of my jokes reflect politics or current topics, I was writing comedy news, but cursing and sexual comments were prohibited.

After watching a few of your shows I would say what jumps out at me is the teased story of the woman who sued McDonald’s for too hot coffee. It sounds like a silly thing, but someone’s grandma was in the hospital for eight days. A segment based on that would put the joke on the audience for having dismissed the news without looking further. Old light on a new topic.

Another idea would be to write a story about the crappy movie “Mortal Engines” likening it to Disney. The movie sucked and Disney eating up all the other studios and making the same movies over and over again sucks.

I wouldn’t mind writing a fairy tale about any modern political figure. The film “Underwater” could be likened to the finances of modern Americans. We are all under debt and some big monster, in real life he’s Orange and stinks, wants to take what little we have left. Give me a topic, I’ll write you a script.

I also think it would be funny as hell if I hosted and episode. I mean, I’m a big funny looking fat dude and we could do a Farley joke about it.
