"Babymouse: Monster Mash" by Jennifer L. and Matthew Holm Book Review

 

"Babymouse: Monster Mash" by Jennifer L. and Matthew Holm is the 9th book in the Babymouse books and the story of her Halloween.

Babymouse is something of a Tomboy who like scary costumes and her mother gives her permission to have a Halloween party. This is a happy moment for Babymouse until the mean girls click in her school get there hands on it and try to make Babymouse more like them. 

This is a story about peer pressure and finding yourself. It is also a story about standing up to people who try and push you around. I have to say I like what this teaches children. 

In addition, it is a stoutly made book with a two color ink. This is a black and orange that fits well with the Halloween subject matter. This book is a fun read and really made my day. 

Who should read this book? Everyone.

"In a People House" by Theo LeSieg

"In a People House" by Dr. Seuss is the story of a rodent and a bird

who adventure into a human habitation to explore the things humans have. This is a learning book for children who will read this book and get examples of what humans have in their home. Very young children may learn the names of basic object from reading this book.

However, this is not the artwork of Dr. Seuss and is written under his other pen name, Theo LeSieg, with illustrations by Roy McKie. 

Who should read this book? Children who need to learn basic object names.

"I See a Sign" by Lars Klove Book Review

"I See a Sign" by Lars Klove is a book about the outside world

designed to teach children about signs. Not just street signs, but signs at stores and repair shops. 

I have to admit that the information in this book came very naturally to me so the this book would have only served to better my reading abilities as a child. Still, even as an adult I did find it interesting to look at something around me every day that I had not thought much about. 

Where as I admit this book is not for everyone I do have to point out that it has to be for someone because it's lasted at the library so long. 

Who should read this book: Young children who don't get out much, artists who don't get out much, and parents.

UFOs by Judith Herbst Book Reviews

UFOs by Judith Herbst is a book regarding the history of UFOs and

the reporting and investigation of them. This book is told with a skeptical understanding of the material debunking most of the reports. Still, the end result is left open as to the existence of aliens. 

There is a large discussion of UFOs in film and literature discussing such things as Orseon Welles and his 'War of the Worlds' broadcast. A good amount of attention is given to Mars and it's early report of canals. 

Who should read this book? Folks who want to learn about UFOs.
