Hay (YouTuber),

A funny thing happened the other day and you popped into my head. It started with a cat crying. I thought it was one of mine and went to investigate only to find after some real dirty work that I was dealing with a kitten. This reminded me of the videos I made with kittens and that was back when you did the (YouTube Segment).

I have to admit if I had it to do over I would not have done those videos. I ran into too many internet stalkers that way, but one of the things I brought up back then was your (YouTube Program)  friends making a movie.

Yeah, I need to get that idea out of my head so I can move on to better things. Truth be told, I know you wouldn’t start a kicksstarter for it, but some of your friends may. It’s just an idea, and a lot of famous people do it now.

You can’t use the name (YouTube Program) for copyright reasons but let’s say you make a comedy horror film about a defunct YouTube channel named NewsFeed, or NewsFreed, something like that. It’s not important. What is important is that everyone is getting back together for a reunion in the middle of nowhere for no good reason.

It would be fun, and I’m sure there would be public interest in the large number of folks who worked on the show. Anyway, (YouTube Mascot) could be News Fiend and in the end he, the puppet, could be the killer after being left in a box alone for so many years. It would be funny. You’d have a good time, and you may just forward this email to a few folks and see what they think.

Tanker Trucks for Fire

My Dear Governor Newsom,

 

With California in flames as is more and more common a question keeps popping up in my mind. “Why do we not rent tanker trucks to bring water to the fire?” I grant that these will not reach the dens wilderness that is currently burning, but they could stop the fire at roads and homes.

 

We bring in air vehicles to drop water on fires, and I would think that they make structures a priority. Tankers can reach any place with a road and are often fitted to work on construction so they can deal with dirt. I would think that tanker trucks could deliver water to the fire trucks at least giving them more of the number one thing they need to fight the fire.

 

The political activist Michael Moore rented a tanker, filled it with water from Flint Michigan, and hosed down a location to prove a point, and if he can handle the hose I would think most truck drivers can. I’ll grant that this isn’t the best of times to try something new, but Californians want action, and there has to be someone who can tell you if this would help.

 

The fires will only get worse from here on, and we need to get smarter to deal with them. Tanker trucks to bring in water from distance, pumps to use water from lakes and rivers, dry ice to be shoveled into brush to smother the fire are all ideas that we should be looking at. Then we should have apps to organize it all and better management, but right now we need to build numbers and get as much equipment fighting fires as we can.

 

The truth here, Mr. Newsom, is that the world has presented you with a challenge in a dark hour. You’re facing recall with your state in flames. Is there any better time for you to show us that you can lead than now? It’s time to be innovative, it’s time to make history, and it’s time to be the hero you know you can be.

Dragging Along in My Ideas

Dear Cassi,

Dragging along in my ideas I have to clear my head of all the nonsense of high school, because this year my character, JonnyAmerican, will graduate. The funny thing is that I think I’ve gotten over high school. Every now and then a memory pops up that upsets me, sure, but that is more do to being reminded of other things that invoked the same emotions. 

The funny thing about memory is that you tend to remember the beginning and the end, but all that stuff in the middle gets fuzzy. Still then, I have not decided if Jonny’s younger brother, Nick, will be depicted as attending high school after Jonny. I really haven’t given nick an age at this point. Some of my memories could be attributed to Nick but the point is that at the end of this year I need to be focusing on Jonny after high school. 

My high school was a remnant of Cold War America with the mascot being originally a titan missile. The Titan family of rockets was the first Intercontinental Ballistic Missile operated by the United States, and they had been around since 1959 with the Titan I being taken out of service in 1965.

The Titans are now a thing of the past being retired in 2005, but even as I went to high school from 1994 to 1998 the namesake of the school mascot had been out of service for nearly thirty years. They had changed it to the Greek Titan by then, but the legacy of the cold war stuck. 

When this was adopted the Titan was a symbol of American strength. The missile was a great protector that kept the Russians from waging war against us. Then the Cold War ended in the eighties and so it had become a symbol of American decay.

At the main entrance to the school they had built a mock launch pad that looked like a bowl to hold a boiler flask. In this trees had been planted making the sculpture look like the ruins of some high tech facility.  That was my high school all right, a ruin of a better time inhabited by the ghosts of the past.
